Honda has recently announced they are recalling 573,000 Accord midsize cars in the U.S. to fix a defective power steering hose that can leak fluid and catch fire. If you have a 2003-2007 model year Accord with a V-6 engine, then your car could possibly put you in danger. At least one fire has been reported says Honda.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the hoses can deteriorate prematurely, causing cracks and leaks. The company will replace the hoses for free, but oddly enough, it won’t have the parts available until early in 2013. If you think you may have a leak, take your car to the dealership.
What if you’ve already been hurt in a car accident because of one of these defects? Get ready for a fight! The problem is that in the past (and possibly now) automobile companies have chosen profits over the safety of their customers. As a car accident lawyer, I can’t help but think about the lives that could’ve been kept out of harms way if the Honda executives wouldn’t have decided to put out a defectively-designed vehicle.
